Chicken Parmesan Crescents Recipe (1)

My husband loves Chicken Parmesan, but it is a little too time consuming when I am trying to juggle two kids under the age of three while trying to cook. This recipe is so simple and even my picky three year old devoured it!

Tried these for lunch today and they were fantastic! What an easy way to have chicken parm sandwiches - They were fast and simple (which is the best way to go with little ones) and best of all they tasted great!! I will definitely be making these again!

  8. Renee Sarver says:

I made these tonight. Instead of chicken parm, I did a take on buffalo chicken and used hot sauce instead of marinara. My husband said it was one of the best things I have ever made. Thank you for the easy/flavorful recipe, defiantly will make these again and again!

FAQs

What is the difference between chicken parmigiana and chicken parmesan? ›

Brace yourself for this one—they're the same dish! Chicken Parmesan and chicken Parmigiana are just different names for the same exact recipe. And, with a name like “chicken Parmigiana”, you might assume that this recipe is Italian. While it has roots in Italy (in a way), chicken Parmesan is all-American.

Why is chicken parm made with mozzarella? ›

Chicken Parmigiana's History

Jokes aside, chicken parm has a long, complicated history argued by many historians for different reasons. Believe it or not, there was not readily accessible chicken in Parma, Italy, so the idea started with thin slices of eggplant covered in Neapolitan tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese.

How do you keep breading from falling off chicken parmesan? ›

Always dip your chicken in beaten egg before coating

Dipping your chicken in egg helps the breadcrumbs, or whatever coating you use, adhere evenly to the outside of the cutlet. You should start with a thin layer of flour, which gives the egg a better surface to cling to, then the egg, then the coating.

Why does the breading fall off my chicken parm? ›

Not shaking off the excess flour

Excess flour will create a thick coating that prevents the egg mixture from latching onto the meat. Therefore, if you want your breading not to fall off from the meat when deep-frying, you must shake off the excess flour before proceeding.

What is the fancy name for chicken parmesan? ›

Chicken parmesan or chicken parmigiana (Italian: pollo alla parmigiana) is a dish that consists of breaded chicken breast covered in tomato sauce and mozzarella, Parmesan, or provolone.

What goes well with chicken parmesan? ›

Pasta: Serve Chicken Parm with a side of spaghetti or fettuccine tossed with garlic butter, or you can try this Pasta with Spaghetti Meat Sauce. If you want your sauce meat-free this Vegetarian Spaghetti Sauce is a great option!

Do they eat chicken parm in Italy? ›

Despite being a staple of Italian-American cuisine, “chicken parmesan” is nowhere to be found in Italy. Instead, Italians nosh on parmigiana – eggplant layered with tomato sauce and cheese.

Is it OK to use mozzarella cheese instead of parmesan? ›

Can I use mozzarella instead of parmesan in fettuccine? Yes! This is what this mozzarella alfredo sauce recipe helps you do. While it does change the flavor and bit of the texture, it's still got the same elements of the creamy comfort food you love.

Can you substitute provolone for mozzarella in chicken parm? ›

Any brand of Wisconsin Mozzarella, Parmesan or Provolone can be used in this recipe.

Why is chicken parm so good? ›

Chicken parmigiana encompasses everything we love about Italian food in one bite—the chicken's juicy interior, the crisp coating of the fried breadcrumbs on the meat's exterior, the bright and slightly sweet flavor of the rich tomato sauce, and the silky texture of the mozzarella, slightly browned under a broiler.

What can you use instead of breadcrumbs in chicken parmesan? ›

Sunflower seeds, almonds, and sesame seeds are all great breadcrumb alternatives. Chop larger nuts finely in a food processor. Seeds like sesame are already small enough and can be used as is. Use a variety of nuts as a coating for chicken, fish, or pork; just pulse them finely so they will stick.

What can I use instead of panko for chicken parm? ›

Delicate and ultra-crisp, sugar-free cornflakes also make a great breadcrumb or panko substitute, especially for coating chicken. Crush them with a rolling pin in a large plastic bag to turn them into crumbs.

How to keep breading from falling off? ›

Seal the plate gently with a length or two of plastic cling wrap. Don't pull it too tight, but make sure that all of the edges are sealed. Place the plate into the refrigerator and let the food sit for at least 60 minutes. This helps the coating to harden a bit, which will keep it on the food.

What can I use to make breading stick? ›

When it comes to breading meat, most breading procedures are basically the same. But taking the extra time to soak your meat in buttermilk and let the flour set will ensure that your breading is fully adhered for the perfect breaded pork chops or breaded chicken.

Why is my breading falling off my chicken? ›

Why does the breading always come off of my oven fried chicken? Make sure you pat your chicken with a paper towel so it's dry before you dredge. If you're using a recipe that calls for dipping it in a liquid first, like buttermilk, that could be the reason.
